I think I finally built an AI-narrated audiobook I actually enjoy listening to. 🧑‍🔬

For the past few weeks I’ve been experimenting with open-source narration tools to see if I could create an audiobook I’d feel good about releasing.

I think I finally got there. In fact, I’ve caught myself listening to it when cooking and even before bed.

Four years into building The Kaleidoscopic Universe, I’m still finding new angles in the story.

Below is a glimpse of the magical new opening to Chapter 5 of the first book in my upcoming Tropical Sci-Fi trilogy.

It was shaped by something real: a documented psychological shift called The Overview Effect. 🔭

It’s what happens when astronauts see Earth from space for the first time.

Borders disappear.
Politics disappear.
What remains is a single, fragile world hanging in darkness. 🌎

Many describe it as overwhelming. Many grown adults cry. Most of them never see reality the same way again.

In this chapter, Asha has technically been in orbit before.

But she has never truly seen the planet.

Four years ago today, I left Hawaii and started traveling internationally.

I’ve been very lucky to live in Nepal, India, Japan, and throughout Southeast Asia, experiences that inform my Tropical Sci-Fi (especially my upcoming Sci-Fi trilogy, weaving mindfulness practices into an addictive, interstellar thriller.)

The world is a remarkable place, and I feel very grateful for what I’ve been able to experience and the lovely souls I’ve met along the way. New WANDEROUS podcast episode about one of those times, coming Wednesday.

After a full rewrite, The Kaleidoscopic Universe is finally ready (launching early next year). It kicks off a new trilogy, but stands on its own.
