What Next? A Halloween Reflection

“Okay, what next?”

️‼️ Warning: Bloggy-type, travel-life post. (Btw, below is a photo of #Hanuman surfing. Thanks, Bali Airport! I wish I had the supplies to dress as *him* for Halloween 😂)

“What’s next?” is the question that perennially returns to me whatever I finish one or several big projects, in this case finding a long-term spot here in Hanoi.

And today is Halloween, the evening of All Hallows’ Day, so it feels like an ending of sorts, doesn’t it?

After being blessed with excellent weather for my first five days in Vietnam, the rain returned yesterday, and with it a dreary half-light and cooler temperatures. It’s odd, feeling truly chilly for the first time in months — quite a contrast from Bali! (And no, I didn’t use GPT to write this, at all. I actually use em-dashes on my own accord.)

Other projects are about to be completed as well, including a big remote video project…

I’m also VERY grateful that I’ve been getting some lovely comments from “The Kaleidoscopic Universe” beta-reader team! 🤗

It’s my strongest book yet; and when more of the readers finish the book, I’m quite looking forward to combining all of the comments into one document and looking for patterns in the feedback.

My intention for this book is to inspire more people to meditate and deeply remember the spiritual nature of life, even in the moments that feel boring or mundane. But also, of course, to entertain the heck out of them in the process. And this book is certainly that.

But today is Halloween.

Today I learned (on a website called CatholicCulture.org, no less), that the evening before the All Hallows’ Day feast became known as “All Hallows’ Eve,” and then “All Hallows’ E’en,”… until it was finally super-shortened to “Hallowe’en.”

Apparently, in England, saints or holy people are called “hallowed,” which is where the name “All Hallows’ Day” comes from.

I am not a Catholic, but it’s certainly interesting to see the historical context of the weird (and often hilarious) festival that is a global phenomenon in the 21st-century.

So, what’s next?

Something beautiful, but you’ll have to stay tuned to find out.
