Wild Halemaumau Crater Photos! (Lava Lake & Devil’s Throat Hawaii Photo Essay)

The more I think about it, the more grateful I feel about my unexpected visit to the Halema’uma’u volcanic crater.

I’ve discussed the specifics of that story in a previous article, but today I’d like to immerse you in some unreleased photos that I took on that incredible day, including two super zoom shots of the roiling lava itself.

As I said before, the site was at once fearsome and magnificent, and I’m excited to share more from this incredible active Mt. Kilauea caldera, the home of Pélé herself. And remember, each of these photos link to their larger sizes over at the Byteful Gallery. More to come…

Share & Enjoy!

From California Coast to Hawaii’s Beaches (A Photo Essay of an Incredible Day)

At long last, I am excited to share a photo essay of my journey from the coasts of California, over 3,800 km (2,300 mi) all the way to the Big Island of Hawai’i, what is said to be the heart chakra of the planet itself.

As I described a few entries ago, I went from waking up in California to eventually finding myself at an exquisitely pristine white sand beach by the end of the day.

It was one of those days that you intuitively know you will look back on as a milestone for years to come. Share & Enjoy!
