While on assignment on the southern part of the island, I noticed a sign that said “CAUTION: Beware of Falling Coconuts and Fronds.”
At first I thought it might be exaggerating the danger, but after more research, I learned just how dangerous falling coconuts can be. According to the Journal of Trauma-Injury Infection & Critical Care, a few people have even died from falling coconuts (although it’s quite rare). Pretty wild.
